Bill from the store Laurent, Laforce et cie for a piano destined for Mont Sainte-Marie

In June 1834, in accordance with the wishes of the students’ parents and following the advice of Abbott Quiblier, Ecclesiastical Superior of the Community, the General Council of the Congregation decided to add the study of music to the programmes offered in the city’s boarding schools. Notre-Dame boarding school, situated near the Mother House, was the first to offer piano and guitar lessons. Other schools quickly followed.
