Report by Mr. Louis Comte regarding the damages to the convent of the Congrégation de Notre-Dame incurred during its occupation by his Majesty’s troops

While the convent was temporarily closed, the stone building where the Sisters lived was rented to the parish caretaker. From 1838 to 1839, it was used as the barracks for the British troops during the uprising of the Patriotes (the popular movement that contributed to the Rebellions of 1837-1838 in Lower Canada).
