Marie-Madeleine Desroussels (Sister de la Nativité)

Superior from 1808 to 1814 and from 1819 to 1822

Marie-Madeleine Desroussels, named sœur de la Nativité, was born June 11, 1758 in Saint-François (Île d’Orléans) and died April 12, 1822 in Montreal. She entered the novitiate in 1775 and made profession in 1777. She was missioned at Saint-François-du-Sud, Boucherville in 1787, at the boarding school of the Mother House in 1793 and at the Lower Town of Quebec in 1797. She was appointed Novice Mistress in 1802 and became Superior a first time from 1808 to 1814. She occupied several positions in the General Council before becoming Superior a second time in 1819 and serving in that position until she died in 1822.
