In 1670, Marguerite Bourgeoys travelled to France for the second time to obtain official recognition for the Congregation. With the support of the citizens and the religious and civil officials of Ville-Marie (Montreal), Marguerite Bourgeoys obtained in May 1671 Letters Patent from King Louis XIV.
